Bitcoin Makes Another Giant Step towards Mainstream Adoption as Belgium Lawmaker Agrees to Take Salaries In BTC.
When the news broke last year that El-Salvador has adopted Bitcoin as legal tender, many analysts projected that it was only a matter of time before more countries followed suit. This projection has been proven right so far.
2022 has ushered the trend of Cryptocurrency advocacy among lawmakers around the world. While some of them are mooting bills for Bitcoin adoption and protection of mining activities, others have been actively encouraging the Citizenry to embrace cryptocurrency by opting to take their salaries in Bitcoin.
On January 28th, 2022, A member of parliament in Belgium, Christophe De Beukelaer, has announced that he would be taking his full salary in #Bitcoin (BTC). The decision is poised to make him the first European politician to do so. #legal #finance
He expressed his belief that blockchain technology was going to incite a revolution, similar to what was observed with the advent of the internet. It is his earnest belief that every sphere of life is going to be impacted by the new wave of technology.

The politician emphasized that Europe could no longer turn a blind eye to blockchain technology. It is expected that his action will sound the alarm bells for EU institutions to catch up with their counterparts outside the continent to institutions who are already gaining exposure to the nascent cryptocurrency market.
He added that he expects global adoption is going to be exponential, and politicians have a duty to make the populace aware of the coming changes.
